SW4 Festival - Preview
Putting aside the fact that SW4 has notoriously bad sound (because that’s what everyone loves to complain about), it is actually a very well thought out, well prepared festival that I for one am looking forward to. I am only attending the Sunday this year, as with last year, and again you will probably get those that will cast an opinion without listening over the days and blanket them as ‘the shit day’ or ‘the good day’.
The Sunday line up, looks, incredible. I am going to have a hard time choosing what to attend based on the different genres that are there. It will be a complete toss up between what I attend simply to see how funny it is, or what I actually want to see. A lot of this will fall down to how I feel on the day.
Main Stage
Skrillex
Public Enemy [The 25th Anniversary World Tour - UK festival exclusive]
Skream & Benga feat Sgt Pokes & Youngman
Diplo
DJ Fresh
Crookers
Foreign Beggars
Rudimental
+ very special guest: Steve Angello
There are a few stand out names here. Benga & Skream always bring it when they play live; fuck the haters that say Skream has lost it or only makes brostep, his sets are unpredictable and if Benga steers clear of any Example vocals the set could be a winner. Skrillex is the other act that everyone is obviously keen to see and I have to admit I have warmed to the fucker - the crowd are going to lap this up and I want to be a witness to what will go down.
DJ MAGAZINE ARENA HOSTED BY TOGETHER IN ASSOCIATION WITH VIEW LONDON
2 Many DJs (DJ set)
Eric Prydz
Simian Mobile Disco
Erol Alkan
Green Velvet
Brodinski & Gesaffelstein B2B
Jeremy Olander
Fehrplay
Liam D
This is where it becomes challenging. I have seen these acts before and I know how good they are. Erol Alkan at Creamfields 2 years ago, SMD at Reading a few years back, 2 Many DJs at Bugged Out weekender… all easy slot nicely into place as the best electronic music acts I have seen behind The Prodigy at Brixton Academy back in 2006.
ALL GONE PETE TONG ARENA IN ASSOCIATION WITH PULSE RADIO
Sasha
Seth Troxler
Maya Jane Coles
Dyed Soundorom
Eats Everything
Jaymo & Andy George
Jesse James & Johnny Bloomfield
Big Tech-House names on here, but with the Bugged Out at Field Day providing a lot of my Tech-house fill, and Eastern Electrics topping me off, the only draws at this tent is Maya Jane Coles and Seth Troxler who I am yet to see in a state that I can remember. Huge clashes with other stages though and these will probably take a back seat.
RAM 20TH ANNIVERSARY IN ASSOCIATION WITH DRUM & BASS ARENA & GET DARKER
Andy C Alive
Flux Pavilion
Jack Beats
Borgore
Friction
Delta Heavy
Loadstar
Doctor P
Dillon Francis
Absolutely no time for this tent with the exception of Bro-gore & Jack Beats. I completely forgot that Doctor P and Flux Pavillion were still going! I think this will be the busiest tent of the day…
If you’re going, who are you looking forward to seeing?
…and SW4 doesn’t tickle your fancy, or if you are looking for a night out before, stay tuned as I will post up a couple of nights happening here in the capital.
Monte - True (Original Mix)
